Aevum Spira Palace ¶
The Spiral of Ages ¶
Overview ¶Aevum Spira, known formally as The Spiral of Ages, is the central seat of power within Leth’Anora Quay, and one of its most defining structures. It is a palace that resists simple description. Rising through the city’s layered form, Aevum Spira spans both the Upper Reaches and the Underways, anchoring itself across the vertical divide. It is not merely built between these layers, but woven through them, as though designed with equal awareness of surface and shadow. From nearly any vantage within the city, the palace can be seen. Structure ¶Aevum Spira is constructed in a style both opulent and unnerving in its precision.
It does not shown signs of age or weathered from its ancient seat, nor does it show signs of restoration. |
Aevum Spira Type: Palace |
The Spiral ¶
The palace earns its name not from shape alone, but from its internal design.
Movement within Aevum Spira is said to follow a spiralling progression:
- Corridors curve gradually, rarely revealing their full length
- Chambers connect in ways that feel difficult to retrace
- Paths seem to lead both upward and downward, regardless of direction
Those familiar with the structure describe it not as a place to navigate… but as a place that guides where you are meant to go.
Presence Across Thalureth ¶
While Aevum Spira is most closely associated with Leth’Anora Quay, it is not confined to it.
Accounts across Thalureth describe:
- Structures matching its form appearing in distant regions
- Individuals encountering identical halls far from the Quay
- Reports of the palace being entered in one place… and exited in another
These occurrences are not considered illusion in the traditional sense.
Rather, Aevum Spira is believed to:
- Manifest across multiple locations simultaneously
- Exist as a singular structure perceived in many places
- Maintain continuity regardless of where it is encountered
Scholars remain divided on whether these are:
- Reflections
- Extensions
- Or the same place, observed from different points in the world
Access & Presence ¶
Entry to Aevum Spira is restricted.
- No formal guards are visibly stationed
- No gates or barriers clearly prevent entry
- No wards or markings are publicly acknowledged
Inhabitants ¶
The palace is maintained by a workforce of kobolds and scaled humanoid creatures, whose presence is visible within its outer layers.
These servants:
- Move silently
- Do not engage with outsiders
- Maintain the structure with quiet efficiency
Their loyalty appears absolute.
Artefacts & Statues ¶
Within Aevum Spira are said to exist numerous artefacts of unknown origin.
- Objects believed to predate the Sundering
- Relics tied to lost histories or unrecorded events
- Items whose purpose is not immediately apparent
Accompanying these are marbled statues depicting moments that appear to transcend a single timeline:
- Events not recorded in known history
- Figures resembling both past and present individuals
- Scenes that do not fully align with established accounts
Some accounts suggest that:
- The same statue has been seen in different locations across Thalureth
- Certain displays appear before the events they depict have occurred
Rumoured Artefacts include:
- A ornate display unit showing the last remaining Goliath bones of the Stone Dragons with Stone Dragon weapons and gold.
- The Ruby of Mourn-Gate
- Bars of Khadrum steel, the last of the forges work
Function ¶
Aevum Spira is widely regarded as the seat of authority within Leth’Anora Quay.
While governance is not openly declared from its halls, its influence is evident across the city.
- Activity within the Uppers remains stable
- Movement within the Underways remains contained
- Disruption is minimal, despite underlying tension
Reputation ¶
Among the people of Leth’Anora, Aevum Spira is spoken of with restraint.
- In the Uppers, it is regarded as a symbol of continuity
- In the Underways, it is acknowledged with caution
Beyond the Quay, it is known by different names, though rarely with certainty that they describe the same place.
Rumours & Accounts ¶
- “There is only one Spiral. The world simply touches it in different places.”
- “A man in Duraneth swore he entered its halls… and left through a door in Valtheri.”
- “You do not find the Spiral. It arrives when it has need of you.”
- “Some statues are not records… they are warnings.”
